McLaren Healthcare Village
Independence Township, MI
Project Description:
McLaren Health Care Corporation has begun development of a state-of-the-art, full-service health care campus on 74 assembled acres along Bow Pointe Drive in the southeast quadrant of I-75 and Sashabaw Road. The $600,000,000 project will be constructed in three phases over the next ten years.
Services Provided:
Professional Engineering Associates, Inc. (PEA) is working with RTKL Architects and Trammell Crow Co. development managers to provide McLaren with a complete Planned Unit Development (PUD) site plan package. This includes topographic and boundary survey of the entire tract of land, as well as a comprehensive Community Impact Statement. PEA will also be responsible for the engineering design of all aspects of the site, including: retail areas, grading, roadways, drainage and an extensive storm water detention system.
Several of the buildings will be constructed with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. In addition, the drainage systems on the site will be designed using LEED techniques, which will incorporate bio-swale, a rain garden and filtration systems to pre-treat parking lot storm water run-off before it enters the sedimentation/detention basin. This will ensure that the final storm water effluent will be as clean as possible.
The site will also be community-friendly, offering a healing garden, water garden, park, playground, nature paths and a preserve of 5 acres of wooded wetlands. PEA’s landscape architects will design the healing garden, rain garden, park, playground and pedestrian pathways – focusing on the preservation of the natural aspects of the site. A central plaza will create an easily-accessible, user-friendly campus as well.
